On Thursday, March 3rd the students in the “Alfredo After School 21st Century Grant Enrichment Program performed six short original puppet shows for parents, teachers, and other classmates. The students created the puppets and wrote the scripts with the guidance of a lesson plan entitled Animal Tales Theatre from the Humane Society of the United States. Subjects included hens in battery cages, homeless animals, puppy mills, destroying wild environments and the result of pollution on animals. Learning about animal care can teach children respect for others and for the environment.
The puppet show was sponsored by Learning Networks Foundation in partnership with the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center.
